AI

Let’s be clear! “AI” is plagiarism -- all grammar checkers, any writing aid, major editing program, can be a form of plagiarism...laziness at the least in my humble opinion. Someone who writes a biographical outline, a story outline of any kind, and then hires a ghost writer, or major team of professional editors, to bring about the final, flawless product, because the original was so sloppy or hackneyed, is not the writer-originator as I see it. Agreed! There are no entirely original thoughts, for each of us stands on the shoulders of the many tall and talented thinkers, richly endowed innovators who came before us – what we owe them, and our chosen craft of relatively Free Expression, is to try and maintain a posture pure as possible when attempting to create. Approach authorship as a Mystical exercise -- As a personal lover. A rapport with God.

Thank you, Andrea; the sentiment is mutual. Love your works. I honestly did not think that AI repugnance would be such a controversial issue. I never even thought of it till it became a contest topic. Apparently it is far more in use than I can imagine. Go figure. Certain the poets I follow do not use such a gimmick. One can tell I believe. Gut feeling.

Are you against thesaurus or rhyming dictionaries? I sure hope not. As an ESl teacher, we allow students to use AI to correct grammar and punctuation. However, you give an inch. They take a mile. Sad what society has become.

Thesaurus, rhyming dictionaries are fine. Writers have always used them, made their own for easy reference when commercial products were not available. I have more grammar books than I can count...probably should use them more often. I like a couple shots of booze, or a few glasses of wine -- I am talking about falling down drunk. AI created poems do our craft harm. Does the human psyche and spirit harm. I know you understand, Andrea. But sad so many do not.

The era of encyclopedias is over; new technology prevails, and Generation Z is taking over. I am very grateful for AI.

I see now...maybe I will write another. I agree with you, something AI generated is not creative poetry at all. But apparently others have no problem with it. The maybe ten poets I follow regularly I am certain are true artists, and would not use such a cheap gimmick. You fight the good fight. Blessings Paula.

Stephen King might disagree, then chuckle. The fact is all of the great writers of our time have a team of editors and yes, many use ghost authors or co-authors. Welcome to the world of literature Joe. I would argue that technically speaking, we all plagiarise, since none of us have formed a new language but instead use each others' words over and over again. Me? I don't have the time or inclination to fret over such trivialities

Hi Tom; I don't think much of Stephen King...tried to read a couple of works but could not get beyond the first 100 pages. Boring. Generally speaking, the world of literature does not interest me...less important the words that are used, but how one uses them. I focus on individuals and not groups...on essence, spirit, as opposed to religion and the name of a God. Why I chose my wife above all others. It is about making personal relationships, as opposed to group think. Not being cute, but real. One has to be there to understand.
