Ahh, So True Life Is a Vicious Game

Ahh, So True Life Is A Vicious Game Where dawning meadows truly dance anew A pretty princess once cried out my name Twas a hot summer so bright and fancy I was foolish lad but playing a game So romance died and I lost my Nancy. Morn and I decided to give her a call Sure you know to do the ghastly ole deed The crow gave call and done was the deal I never saw her face nor her salty tears Ahh, so true life is a vicious game And oft it hurts looking back through the years Hurts like holy hell now, man tis so real. I was foolish lad but playing a game. Ahh, so true life is a vicious game Robert J. Lindley Sonnet NOTE. Remembering my youth oft brings memories that cause me deep regrets from decision I made in my wild youth. Scars that cause me pains today. But one must bear the pain of past decisions. Life is how you live it.

Thanks for sharing this... making me reflect, and be nostalgic about a "youthful past" yet... giving me a prod to move on, thanking the Lord for enabling me. God bless you. Thanks so much for your uplifting comments.

All I can do is pray for courage to bear the results of my foolish mistakes. But the problem with the past, is that it has a life of its own and often we embellish the truth. Given the chance, we would make a new set of mistakes. A very thought-provoking pen, Robert.

Many of us in our youth played a game of life without knowing the rules properly. Reflecting on the past (however bad) can be a good thing if it helps set goals for the future. I'd add though that too much ruminating on the bad times can lead to unhealthy obsessional thoughts so your note at the end is, in my opinion, very sound. I''ve enjoyed reading your heartfelt and poignant sonnet Robert - and it's great to read you again. Cheers - Gary

We all have to bear the pain of wrongdoings in our past if only we could turn the clock back and put things right. You're certainly not alone Robert. Tom

Robert we all have our list of sad regrets. Our youthful years were without experience of life and as we grow older we learn to appreciate people more. They say hindsight is 2020 but sometimes the pas makes us feel so much guilt for our poor decision making. Our memories haunt us sometimes but there is forgiveness my friend and we have to forgive ourselves because non is perfect or good accept Christ. Now Robert think of all the good that you did to make up for the bad and think about that.

May the good Lord forgive us all for our blunders and may the good things that we have done also count and are remembered. God bless you my friend for accepting responsibility...

Your poem really resonates with me, Robert. As I go back through my life praying for those that have been hurt in some way by my childish ways or even unknowingly making choices that hurt others; many things are revealed to me for prayer and forgiveness. What a shock to find out I wasn't as much like the person I am now over the years. Thanks for the memories and the honest in your poetry my friend. Write on! A FAV for my list! Bill

Some memories staggeringly return in the middle of the night.I largely have forgiven myself for things I cannot do a thing about. We get to make those around us happy today.that is our only salvation now. Life as a game really sucks Play it for real! And it won’t suck! That Serenity Preyer keeps me on trackTo accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change what I can and wisdom to know the difference! Poignant Poem. Panagiota xxx

Well you know a lad was playing the field a bit too much-- me... And got caught at it. I still regret my losing that very pretty gal in my early 20's. I was a very wild cat back then,,, Youth and its follies.
