AGE CONCERNS - SHOELACE

My shoelace is no longer tight. A simple task to put it right. But I cannot bend so to do For my balance is undone too. Slowly I must walk up the street Hoping somewhere to find a seat Or a low wall to sit upon To make my shoelace tight again But it seems there is nowhere For me to do simple repair. I head back home with much caution, Taking care not to fall again. My shoelace is now once more tight. A simple task to put it right.

Dear Mr. Tony Hargreaves, I hope this message finds you well. I am a research scholar currently working on a thesis analyzing contemporary poetry. Your poem "Ladybug" is a key part of my study, as its depiction of the ladybug’s lifecycle beautifully symbolizes human development. Unfortunately, I have been unable to locate the full text of "Ladybug" despite searching literary databases. I would be immensely grateful if you could share the complete text. Thank you for considering my request.

Tying a shoelace is something we take for granted until age starts playing its tricks on us. Simple tasks become harder. Without reading the title this poem at first appears to have a whimsical side to it but at its heart there it has a more serious and poignant edge. Cheers - Gary
