Against Time
Ghostly echos of the past
Still haunt me.
Like the warmth
Of your bright smile.
I try to move on
With my life.
Inch by inch
Mile by mile.
I know there is
No going back.
I understand that
What is done is done.
I try to focus
On the good.
And let go of all the regrets
To which I have clung.
Still, it makes no difference.
How could it, when your not here?
The void that was created when you died
Continues to grow, year by year.
All I have left are shreds of hope.
And a way with words, so I rhyme.
And in doing so I try to kill what stands between us.
Those merciless hands of time.
