Notes About The Poem

Afternoon Delight

strawberries in rich sweet cream
a frozen dish my tongue predicts
the afternoon hot
	I drink it
		through a straw
			like pop

strawberries mixed with sweet cream
frozen and served in a cone
as afternoon heats
	slip
		slide
			plop!

frozen strawberries and fresh cream
an afternoon delight in dish or cone
my tingling tongue is quick to lick
	before
		calamity
			consumes it
