Aftermath of the Storm
Aftermath Of The Storm
i was keeping watch
over the loveliness
of my flowers
three in a row
until the imposition
of falling logs
unnecessarily brawn
nature’s jocularity
unbecoming of oak
my diurnal attention
disturbed by ash
yet one ruddy plant
lipstick smeared
a sunshine smile
shoulders steady
my calla lily penetrated
by careless flotsam
Verbena deeply impacted
her flowers have passed
no medics just me
as casualty branches
pile up
and the chainsaw chopper
roars
