African Child

"African child" African child, so young and bold, On June 16, your story was told. You took to the streets with pride and might, To fight for freedom, for what is right. You faced fear and danger, yet you stood tall, Demanding a future, fair and for all. Your voice rang out, clear and strong, As you marched bravely, all day long. But the world saw your pain and plight, Your struggle to learn, to read and write. And they refused to let you fall, For they knew, you deserved it all. Today, young child, you have a hope, A future bright, with endless scope. No more to be silenced, no more to be still, But to rise up, and learn, and be fulfilled. Written by Abdulai Kpaka Mansary.
