If he had any feeling that he is doing something bad, he would have stopped it long before. He is so deaf that he can't listen to what his conscience dictates. That's the case with all people doing nefarious acts....

You are right. Mr. Putin feels that he is doing something good, i.e., trying to restore to Russia what is rightfully hers. And, yes, he seems closed down to contrary thoughts. But, drops of water eventually penetrate rock. So this is another drop of water on his rocky head.
