Adrenaline
veins flow
scamper down damp slopes
energy
threatens overflow
demanding unsustainable wages
but we acquiesce
because
veins take up arms
pupils quit school
basking; enlightened
euphoria becomes low hanging fruit
the banners will read
PAIN BANISHED
UTOPIA FINISHED
all this while we stand atop a bloodied hill and scream triumphant at gunpowder sky
