Addiction

We laughed
We cried
We lived
We died

Times are good
We laugh, as we should
Times are blue
We cry, lost for what to do
Times are plenty
We love too many
Times are bad
We reflect good times we had

Feelings are choices to show
Do we suppress, or let the world know?
Those of us that fell,
Tend to hide it well
Those who have never broken
Are usually the ones outspoken
If we keep to ourselves
It is usually lost in our own hells
If we act happy, indifferent and loud
We have nothing of which to be proud

To be hurt is to learn to care
Making us more aware
Take a look at someone new
See if you can feel their pain too
You can not understand the tears
Until you have cried your share of fears
It may hurt to let yourself feel
The truths of yesterday's become so real

No longer hiding behind a mask
Coming down is no easy task
Addictions only pretend to hide
All the scars harbored inside
Time to figure out the right way
To deal with the pains from yesterday

You will get very emotional
maybe even devotional
You will laugh
You will cry
Because you will live
By choosing not to die
