Across the Lines

Winter sits in sorrow No happiness to borrow No joy to give No reason to live Fall was so beautiful But turned its back towards a less plentiful Winter sitting in agony Forever going down in infamy Winter did love the fall But the fall did not love at all The winter's embrace And cast it asunder with eloquent grace The winter swore it would never love Again but as the sun shone from above Winter become warm like never before Leaving it to beg for more Spring had entered Winter's life Helping winter forget its inner strife Warming the hardened heart Which fall had torn apart The winter became carefree Never wishing to see The cold which surrounded Its soul agonizingly grounded As the winter looked towards the Spring Wondering what joys it would bring It refused to look back The winter refused its heart to turn black
