Accounting

Those squandered times,
I’ve realized,
were not moments
of self-inflicted wounds,
rather, pieces
of the present wholeness.

But I’ve had enough.
Though my crimes are lesser
than these bastards on the news—
through my false abstention—
yet, I am me,
just unique in the sins
that forged me.

This I learned,
forced upon me:
no more squandering of moments
when you are old.

We are not to shape our lives on false ideas just learn if we stray and move on. Accounting for past deeds only works if you have learnt from them.
