Abused Kid's

Yeah, he ran away,
at the age of thirteen.
His old man was a drunk,
and beat him real mean.

Now everyone knows,
It's a real sad Deal.
A runaway kid,
with nuthin to eat.

Then somebody said,
He wanted to roam.
NO, he was Abused,
and fled on his own.

He took what he had,
and put down some tracks.
A lot of bad dream's,
And the Welts on his back.

So, Everyone Knows,
It's a Very Bad Scene,
When Adults Abuse Kids
Then Get Away Clean.

Excellent writing, I understand your message & can totally relate. I was also an abused kid too.

In 1987 Giraldo Rivera made a documentary about runaway teens called, "Innocence Lost". I knew one of the youth he interviewed. I wrote a poem about her, "GP". I didn't like that Giraldo's tone was judgmental and condescending as if runaways were their own problem. It's dysfunctional parents in a dysfunctional society. If you've nowhere to go, you're going to roam. It's a sad reflection on us that there's nowhere to go for so many. Thanks for this poem.

Much of homelessness is fueled by abused kids! Your poem, stark, gritty, and true! Robert
