Abandoned
Their mother lay dead
in the middle of the road.
The car carried on.
The sun rose distressed.
The youngsters were on their own.
Both parents now dead.
The orphans were cold
and huddled together.
Alone, abandoned.
Hunger pangs grew.
The weakest one cried out and
the others shivered.
Black hearted Raven
Found the unguarded nest
and did his evil deed.
Watching in horror
a sparrow sobbed.
