Abandon Ship

Poetry Soup
Is like a ship
floating along without it's crew.
AI pirates
are now steering the vessel
but I'm not enjoying the view.

John…I did not see you POTD until today. Belated Comgratulations . I have seen an AI poet here also. Personally, it is beyond me to comprehend the joy of cheating. Apparently, said poet has no interest in growing in poetry. Just wants popularity. Many here do.and spend all day commenting in cars, at work and at home. Seems to me that is an addiction. Pangie

Hi Pangie, I can't see the point in using AI, as you say it's cheating, as for popularity I'd rather stay in the background.

Ah, but the crew speaks below deck - the ship/this ship is not yet the pirate's to command, nor does the Admiralty wish it so. In the end, no matter the fire...they have no rudder and no true north!

I believe the deal is (nothing new) political and financial. I truly believe if they could "prove" malfesance, they would act against it, yet they are more susceptible to liable and slander than we. They have proven not to suffer plagiarists and accordingly banned them. We, as an engaged participants, do weigh the scale - but...slip into their shoes (like all else) and the view is significantly altered. The bottom line, is that I believe the admiralty is strictly in cohorts with their own interests - and so would we be.

John, clever and a clear message. I'm wondering how we can stop it. One would hope there is, but I have doubts. It's all rather troubling and a sign of things to come. It affects much more than art.

There's been some listing on the starboard side, John, but some onboard are trying to bring her about on an even keel. We keep bailing while some continue to poke holes below deck. There's a bit of a storm at the moment, but there will be clear skies ahead. Sabotage by any sailor merits being thrown overboard or made to walk the plank. This is a POTD, an SOS that sends a needed message! Glad you're helping us to bail, John.

Everything Jan has commented mirrors my feelings, but I will not give up the pleasure I have from writing poetry and posting it here among the many friends I've made. The AI invasion casts shadows on the site, but our poetry should not suffer because of it. I'm just going to continue to do what I've done here for years. There are lots of good poets who won't leave. I hope you are one of them. I know Jan and I will stay, no matter how many cheating people put their names to machine poetry.
