A Zulu Warrior

Do you sometimes see a Zulu Warrior Staring back from the mirror in the morning! A nasty fierce looking bad tempered dude Obscenities flying out without warning Crabbing bout having to make a living But enjoying all the many accoutrements If it wasn't that, it'd be something else People just love to complain and vent A shower and shave, you're almost human Not one person will ever suspect That a member of the Zulu Warriors tribe Was a coworker of great respect Do you sometimes see a Zulu Warrior Staring back from the mirror in the morning! © Jack Ellison 2012

I like this one! Well, I've liked all your poems, though I especially like poems the importance of seeing the truth in ourselves, sometimes the more ugly and aggressive side of us humans. Some days we are like lions, other days we're like kittens. All part of life and the human condition! Always, Laura

What a beautiful poem on that beastly looking dude called the Zulu Warrier. I have lived in Swaziland for a year in seventies that is close to the Zulu Land. So, I know what you are talking about. The conclusion of the poem is superb. The words of praise coming from you for my Tanka Time's Termite, has filled me with joy. Thank you. -Mohammad

My Zulu warior is my Dad lately. As his health improves the warrior goes away...I think I need to bring out a bit of that warrior myself... He's wearing me out some. Keep the ditty's coming... They're very enjoyable reading... Being without your poems... is like a day without sunshine. Yours and Cathy's friend.

The answer is yes, I shave and banish him to the nether regions until the following day. With Movember here I may be allowed to march him off to work for a few days.
