A Zeal for a Deal

About the deal with Iran. It will all change, of course

“Yes, yes, we won!” But wait a second
We’re told “have faith” and also “recon”
It’s why and how - and did we really?
Don’t question nothing, you’d be silly

“We won the war against Iran!”
Them to surrender was the plan
They didn’t, insolent and brash
The nukes of theirs never smashed

“Oh, we reopened oil trade”
Which never stopped and didn’t fade
“Rise up and fight” - off Donnie’s lip
“Break free of ayatollah’s grip”

“We’d help, and let the freedom reign”
We didn’t, thousands got slain
All while Persians trusted us
My country tossed them under bus

Gulf states be left to own device
They trust U.S. and pay the price
“Unfinished business” cries Zion
But mighty fleet may soon be gone

The wounded beast shall rise again
They bought the time to cause new pain
To even score with all involved
What have we won, what got resolved?

The ruling clique is getting dough
For never yield and saying ‘no’
The huge amount they reveal
From one who itched to make a deal

U.S. lose face, we act inept
They push B.S. and we accept
One doesn’t walk out on a war
End what you start so war's no more

Trump's kicking can along the road
For our kids this mess is sowed
Oh, you be damned, the Middle East
Forever landmines, turns and twists

We won, or did we? Who can tell
Betray, reverse, abandon, sell
Agreement’s weak and mostly noise
By Brooklyn real estate boys
