A Young Heart

Time slows and age runs fast
to try and catch the heart that
remembers how to play and laugh.

The somber and severe become
sour and jaded with no joy.
Their inner child tossed aside like
an unused broken toy
who's value in repair they fail to see.

Oblivious they proceed without a clue
one of the multitude that pay and pay
the cost long after the debt came due.

Lost to their mind so smart the virtues
of a playful mind and a youthful heart
What should be days of joy and ease
now become void of pleasure and peace
as you have now earned the title Old Tart.

Now you know that I couldn't use the F word.

I am glad to hear that as those who loose it seem to age and become decrepid so much earlier in life. Thanks again for this review. Huggs TLee

Some people have such a hard time reaching their idea of maturity that they do all they can to be rid of any vestages of their inner child not realizing that to mature this is not required and a tragic loss. Thank you for your kind words and kindness to review. TLee

It's tough to maintain a young heart in a battering society... those that can are blessed... ;-) Terry

Stress destroys the heart and body literally along with it's sidekick pressure. These are the times when we most need to remember how to play and do so on a regular basis in spite of the urge to do otherwise. Your future health and well being may depend on it. Huggs TLee

I have a certain person in my life that I can't get to see this either. I guess being half Irish and full of playfulness has become my curse for the one person I wish to play with has abandon their inner child. This makes things often painful and lonely. Huggs TLee
