A Worthwhile Journey

I was so busy loving you that I got
lost along the way.
I fell so head over heels for you that
I neglected me.
I no longer catered to my own needs
now I don't know who I am.
When I look into the mirror, foreign
eyes are staring back at me.
I've been fighting with all I can to
find me but I don't know where to
begin.
My journey of self-discovery may be
challenging and scary,
But it's a journey that I must take no
matter what.

Well done Alexis. So many of us lose ourselves in pursuit of pleasing someone else. You have to be the best YOU that YOU can be because no one else CAN be and YOU can be NO ONE ELSE. Good stuff here. God Bless, JB

I thought your poem put this situation so well. When love becomes all involving and you don't think of your own welfare, this is sometimes abused making you feel lost. I enjoyed ready your poem very much, Alexis..
