A World Sleeps
The sun sets over the mountains
the moon awake now takes it's turn
the day is dying and night has fallen
stars twinkle in the darkness
the world sleeps, not I
even the lazy cat does not stir
tonight, empty and endless
silence adds to my torment
I await a new day
the sun will rise
the moon retreat
stars unlit
noise a welcome sound
birds busy themselves
and the morning dew
gleams on waking roses
a new day.
