A Wonderful Show - Nature a Popular Theme Contest

I am sitting here on the sand
Knees bent arms hugging them close
Looking in wonderment at the sky
an artist's hand is painting it's finest work

First a splash of red to lighten the dark sky
followed by  lighter tones of orange
to bring out the nights glow
Then the yellow is applied to raise it up
to the most beautiful sky, a wonderful show

But nature has more to enthral us
Silently wending its way through the nights sky
I see large birds returning home
Their silhouette completes the picture
black shadows against a bevy of fiery hues

I try to remember the tones using my minds eye.
We are so lucky to be able to enjoy such a nightly scene
nature bringing us pictures anew, for us to peruse
