A Wiser Generation, I Hope

My lawn is patchy from cooler nights The growth stunted into a paler green Autumn is coming sooner, in August, At least a month earlier than last year I see definite signs of weather changes. My farmer friend Shane says it is cyclical, [A normal pattern over a long period] It is apparently coming much quicker, While slow change is barely noticeable This is evident throughout the world. I suspect human technology is to blame, And like so much that is wrong nowadays, Folks are unwilling to chart a new course Or to do what must be done to amend, The next generation will be wiser, I hope.

We didn’t get any peaches this year due to lack of consistent rain. Our apricots didn’t come in because a late frost took out the blossoms. But my persimmon trees are so loaded with fruit, the branches are nearly snapping. And, my rain tanks are all full (when it did rain, a lot). Sure, it is getting warmer. Weather is a complex thing! I figure with 75 acres of trees, my footprint is pretty small… :-)

I'd say so, Jeff. It is all very, very complicated, to be sure. I'm sorry your fruit trees didn't do so well this year, but I think that's pretty common among growers. I know some years they are good, others not so good. Glad you're here!

I am glad you are seeing cooler weather changes. It is supposed to be between 88 and 91 in Kansas City all week, and we have an open house again at school on Wednesday! We will be there until eight with 91 degrees to look forward to. Ugh!

I think the changes are affecting different areas in different ways.

It seems that the changes are affecting different parts of the country in different ways.

We hope Milton. A realization you have expressed so well here. Enjoyed reading my friend.

Of great concern to me, too. It seems there are the people who are not yet affected and therefore blase and those who are affected just trying to stay alive. Elizabeth

You are so right, Elizabeth. We have folks in the western part of the United States who are literally burning up!
