Notes About The Poem

A Wind That Sings Renewal

too gentle a wind
to move
majestic pine
by chance;
bearing sleeves
of evergreen
that cannot
delicate dance.
Instead it spins
the leaves
of aspen trees;
in pirouettes ,
like tickled
ivory keys
plays for me
familiar songs
of courtship
and romance.
early morning
by the water’s calm,
where
mountains stand
to watch,
as they
have always done
and a lone pine
stands
as sentinel
to the sky
waking dark
to darken blue.
as brightest star
gives one last kiss
to what is just
a wisp of moon,
to say goodbye
and leave
the gift of day
and just as small
as that,
I am renewed.
