Loved this haiku, Andrea. Glad to see it way up there! The last line is an ouchy and puts the reader RIGHT there. I almost heard the bang... hugs, chum, and congrats on this win!

Is this a contemporary haiku...a gunshot refers to a human element...hmm....I don't particularly care about that for my reading enjoyment...I love the image of fresh snow,,,a camouflaged rabbit is no match for this expert hunter. Love your haiku..love rabbit stew too. lol. You are a poetry machine, girl!! Gwendolen

This is a vivid picture, poor little rabbit. I like the virgin snow, for me it puts the scene in early morning... I had to do away with my ' miniature mountains' I replaced them with a 'slippery pathway' hope nobody falls and breaks their neck. :) Cornish cream... Cornwall and Devon in south England produce a double cream to die for. If you ever find yourself in that neck of the woods don't miss the scones, jam and creammmm. luv Margaret

Oh, I hate to see the rabbits running for their lives when hunters are around, but people in Florida do hunt them for food. Outstanding, powerful haiku! Deb will love it too. Love, carolyn

Rabbit stew tonight. And the circle of life continues. The way rabbits go at it, there will be another one come along soon. Probably with tears in it's eye's for you shot it's mother. Shame on you! I'm gettin confused, am I supposed to feel sad for the bunny, or glad that somebody gets rabbit stew for supper. Hmmmm? Just having a little fun with this one. Who knew three little lines would incite such a fuss. :) Oh, and good luck in the contest.
