A Wall In the Wood

A wall in the wood now stands like a ghost, A red-brick snake-ghost, threatening to toast - To drown dwellers in a sea of dreadful appall, And wither them all by being a mending wall. This wall divides the wood as South and East, As upper and lower, as thinner and fatter And steals their joy and glares when they feast, Torments them all and charges them to scatter. This wall – towering wall – that smothers all, As Berlin wall, or any wall, will crumbling fall. Oct. 10, 2020 A Wall in the Woods Poetry Contest Contest Sponsor: Craig Cornish

Very creative approach to the contest, Newton. Also eerie. I really like your conclusion - all walls will some day crumble. Best wishes for the contest.
