Notes About The Poem

For the Voice In My Head By Glenn Hughes Poetry Contest

A Voice in My Head I Wish to Hear

There’s a voice in my head I wish to hear,
but I’m not sure I’ve ever heard it yet.
To even have it whisper in my ear
would be for me the most awesome asset.
That “still small voice” that’s mentioned in 1st Kings -
it must be the sweetest tranquility
that to prayerful people the Spirit brings.
Oh, how nice would be the ability
to access promptings if I were in need.
But always I’m restless, so in my brain
it’s my own voice I hear going at full-speed
most of the time, and that’s become my bane.
I’m trying deep reflection so I might find
the inner peace I seek inside my mind.

I like your sonnet content very much, the weight of heavy emotion was conveyed. Pls remind me, if you can, that I have some sonnet questions. Where are you now? Right now? Now?

Though there can be distractions, a sincere effort to listen to the faint murmurings of our soul will give us peace. Profound thoughts dear Andrea✍️

You don't seem restless. I am, hence the lethagy in writing. Just read my last poem.❤️

Yes. It takes many forms. What I want to convey is that spirituality has always been very difficult for me, but this past month I have been making changes in my life to pray and listen afterward and study things to bring me closer to God. Very strange things are about to happen in the world and I want God's guidance and protection. Thanks for reading, Alison
