A Voice For the Animals
Lost amongst the clatter of the day,
battling with the cacophony of progress,
is a songbird singing for no one to hear.
Hiding in the jungle of cables and steel,
fighting for sunlight with scrapers of sky,
a flower clings to a life so dear.
Shuttling between concrete and trees,
acorns and trash making tasty treats,
a squirrel lays store for winter food.
How about we have more bird parks where
songs are sung all day, and more places to grow
naturally, free, without being human-skewed?
They blend with ours and we encroach on theirs,
we take and they have no choice,
let us give the animals a voice for their mood.
