A Vanishing Sight
From a lonely country road
I saw in the distance on my bicycle
a young couple in traditional dress
lovely, in the evening sunlight
crossing the wide
winter paddy field .
They might be returning home
from a ceremony.
The sight was charming
in the setting sun.
Today over the paddy fields
structures coming up
pushing nature away
further and further .
Schools,shops,
and residential buildings rise
here and there,
where paddy once thrived.
Oil pumps hum
at the once - quiet roadside.
The paddy fields are vanishing
there, day by day.
