Notes About The Poem

This poem is dedicated to my twin brother, George. On March 23, 2025, I found him at his home, peacefully departed. This piece is a tribute to his memory, our bond, and the love that will always remain.”

 

A Twin in Heaven

”A Twin in Heaven” 

Exactly 12 days short
of two weeks, and 
thoughts of losing
you fails to escape me.

Debating if perhaps-
all the while,
a test solely for me?!

A test-
proving if my strength
can not emerge
to weak?!

A test-
to leave behind
the visual effects
of your flesh that night
in hopes it no longer 
torments me?!

Or…

A test-
to see who’s reaching
the Pearly Gates first…
you or me?!

Sigh…(Crying)

Well twin—41 years,
2 months and 12 days…
you finally surpassed me.

My only request…

is for you to save a spot in line for me.

Im a twin and i have an identical twin sister who is five minutes younger than me. And we cant imagine losing each other, it would be the death of me losing her. My dad and his twin still here, and his twin’s wife. The pearly gates will be opened one day so we can seek first the Lord and then celebrate forever with all our loved ones and the saints.
