A Tribute To Grandma Elfrieda
Grandmother Elfrieda's birthday is today,
She would be over one hundred years old.
The beautiful grandmother that helped raise us,
I remember her well.
She was the nicest grandmothers you could ever have,
Cooked and baked delicious foods for us.
Macroons and Apple Streudel,
Cooked delicious dinners for her children.
Was exceptionally talented at knitting and sewing
Knitted me a beautiful nordic sweater.
A very fashionable sailor's sweater was made,
Grandmother sewed a pleated skirt with that.
I wore that to a school dance,
What beautiful memories.
I went onto marry a sailor,
That is very romantic.
We had a Christmas wedding at our parents spacious house,
Our Lutheran church minister performed the ceremony.
Grandmother wore her long hair in an attractive bun,
She sewed her own dresses.
The kindest grandmother ever,
She brought her furniture from the old country.
We put that in our living-room,
An exquisite linen chest and a spacious table.
That provided many exquisite birthdays,
What good memories we have,
Happy Birthday grandmother,
Thank you the beautiful memories.
