A Train Journey
lets go on a train ride back to the 80s
its the day the smiths decided
they need to be in London as desired
where there are factories open
offering work for men or orphan
early at dawn the parents awake
nudged the children to rise and shake
away with sleep and on with the task
all the hustle and bustle to pack
there goes the family the kids in queue
john, tim, linda and casey too
through the fields towards the station
awaits the carriage to the destination
Excited on seeing the giant
making its way towards them puffing
as it halts they go onboard
naughty tim behind lagging
there he emerge covered in soot
Like a chimney sweeper barefoot
wanting to be by the window gazing
a furious brawl seen on going
The engine rumbles to motion
as familiar scenery pass by
they glimpsed the sun peeping
in between the huge trees weeping
leaving behind the meadow and pasture
how beatific and serene the vision
as they progress they see less of nature
trees vanishing driven out of sight
and more of dreadful barren land
as if in an alien world of sand.
In the train many faces snuggled
one powdered, another rugged
you could see the latest fashion
of suits and gowns of silk and cotton
vibrant colours and masked men
with lack of genuine feelings
As they neared their destination
a flurry of movement
excited faces
soon to be disappointed
emerging out of the carriage
vanished was the life they knew
for before them lay a vary world
and they are lost in the crowd so new.
