A Time Between Gods

all Is
in the autumn sky:
red and orange
dark blue and black
and a cool wind
kissing the sun goodnight.

all Is
in this musty den:
blue and flickering
images and shadows
dancing
in the minds of tired women and stooped men.

all Is calm
but for the patter of children
wandering alone
through horrors and tangled brush.

Excellent word choices pulling us right into the mood and setting of the observer. Great writer, Siir.

Sam, the reflection on the moment’s varying settings is powerful. In these moments and settings it IS all there is. This is a difficult concept to capture and for some to even experience. This piece is filled with empathy for the various forms of human experience occurring similtaniously. Brilliant!

Such an interesting title.. We feel that we live in a beautiful world until we look closely and often we don't want to look too close for fear of what we might find. You captured what so many of are not talking about. Thank you. Invite you to read Innocents on my page. Interested in your reaction. Kathleen Kroll Kathy

visceral imagery. it is that opaque and seemingly indecipherable moment between the "two vast seas of uncertainty" strong, brother, strong.

Its nice to be here, Rick. I tried very nearly every other poetry site on the web before finding PoetrySoup. None of them were a good fit for me. But this place, thanks to friends like you, is starting to feel like home. Thanks for your warm encouragement. Peace...Sam

Thank you Sara so much for picking up on that turn in the last stanza. I agonized over it for days --- afraid that it would not fit. You inspire me so much! Happy Easter...Sam
