A Time
I came to your home,
to work with you
thru the hard times ahead.
I had no idea,
that you would come to mean
everything to me.
I love the way you laugh,
and tell jokes I have never heard.
I try to tell some too,
but I am not
good at that.
You are.
I love the way you smile,
it lifts quiet spirits, and gives me fresh insights
on the new heights of everyday things.
It brings me to my knees,
and the bees hum.
I love the way your hair is wild,
and never lays quite flat as it should.
It frames your face with equal measures of both
tenderness, and harsh, or rather brave...
warrior lines.
I came to your home,
to work with you,
to show you how to deal with cancer.
To show you how to deal with the loss
of things you never knew you needed,
as they were taken for granted.
I came to your home to work with you,
but you showed me instead,
how to be...
more than
and even...
better than
I dreamed.
To reach higher than the clouds,
and seek the face of light,
in the darkness.
I came to your home to work with you.
