A Thousand Daggers
A Thousand Daggers
Hobbes
We progress towards stasis
Each step forward brings a step back
And engage in a standstill
For each battle won another is lost
We love but we question
The questions burn into my mind
As a thousand daggers pierce my heart
Perplexed by the obvious
For every fear I shed one grows anew
Let down by our saviours
For every rise there is a fall
My soul weeps in agony
A pain that renders me blind
As a thousand daggers shatter my soul
Freedom includes limitations
A prisoner in freedoms grasp
Life is contradiction
Each end a beginning and each beginning an end
To survive we must kill
And it kills me inside
As a thousand daggers break my spirit
We fight for peace
For every pleasure we suffer through pain
Armies are blinded by leaders' vision
The innocent are those with sense to disobey
I'm blinded by the tears I've shed
For my humanity, which was forfeit so long ago
As a thousand daggers destroy my will
My ties to a hypocritical humanity are severed,
As a thousand daggers set me free
