A Thought Can Save

We see the news:

“She killed him,”

“He killed her.”

And we wonder—how did it come to this?

Why do people fall so far?

Is it anger, love, jealousy,

broken trust, betrayal,

the weight of family, or secrets never told?

We watch from afar,

quick to judge,

never realizing that one day

we, too, might stand on that same edge.

But what if—

before the knife is raised,

before the rage takes hold—

there was one thought,

one pause?

Instead of killing,

why not speak, seek justice,

even if it takes years?

Because even slow justice

is better than the instant ruin of a life.

Have they ever thought,

while holding that knife,

about the soul they’re about to wound—

the families who will lose

a daughter, a son,

a mother, a father,

an elder, a child?

One thought.

One pause.

That’s all it takes to save a life.

It’s better to live with pain

than to destroy and be haunted forever—

a heart turned to stone,

a machine of regret,

broken by its own hands.
