A Tear For You
As I glance out the tinted window of the hearse, a cool drop of sweat beats
downward towards my lower back, sending shivers from my neck to the very
bottom of my spine.
I clench my fists as I try to hold back tears; doing everything I can to imagine
myself in a place far from here. I wish that this was nothing more than a dream
gone wrong.
Silently for the first time since his death I gasped for a quick breath of air, letting
every emotion that I’d ever felt run through my body.
Unexpectedly a tear trickles down my face in what seemed like a rhythmic
pattern.
The once meaningless tears I’d grown use to turned into massive sobs, heavy
and heartfelt leaving me with an emptiness unknown to any kind I’d ever felt
before.
