Ha, ha! 'Beats rioting' is such a great ending... Seems to be a throwaway ending at first glance, and then the reader (at least me) realizes that it's the essence of the thing!! Thanks, Panagiota! Play ball! ~ gw P.S. My Captcha is 'UMP' for the validation...

Panagiota, 3 cheers for the very rare baseball posting at Soup! I played from age 8 through high school, and as you said, learned many valuable lessons. The ones you mentioned, plus teamwork, working hard for something, and keeping your eye on the ball (focus)! Also, it was my first exposure to racial diversity back in the 60's as my neighborhood and schools were not diverse at all. Best wishes for your grandson in Little League and beyond!

Thanks John for sharing all you learned in your years. Adding racial diversity, thank you. I know how deeply the parents are involved. Takes a lot of family teamwork. Great exercise, keeping in shape year round. Plus teams from other countries. Not much time to sit about destroying the country. He's out of LL due to age but still plays on other teams. Best wishes to all boys and now a few girls in LL, too? Tremendous share...Panagiota xx. Thank you.

That old saying, doesn't matter if you win or lose but how you played the game. But that's it in life, you win some you lose some, no use cribbing about it. Be grateful you're alive I say. Tom

How lovely, Tom. I like the phrase cribbing about))) in the States we say crabbing about.)) Eddie is really learning sportsmanship. He's been in baseball since he was 3" he's now 13. He hopes to be in the MLB. He's tall and a powerful pitcher.no games is awful here in the Major Leagues till end of July. Worse, no fans at games. Panagiota xx Panagiota xx
