A Summer of Dappled Light
Restful Sun-lit lawns are the soft colors
of a buttercup velvet,
the bright dapples of lemon-lime.
The Summer house is a sunflower
adoring the sky.
And two pale yellowed leaves
of the Igiri tree nigh the Summer home
are butterfly wings.
They are within a mid-summer flush,
are a warm Autumn hue of light beauty.
The golden weeds amongst
the breezy unkempt grass of a backyard
are the daubs of a pastel. The house daydreams as the sun is caught by the tree,
as it slips into the dusk.
And the heavens cast the bursting stars.
