A Song For Hannah

A Song for Hannah...( amhran do Hannah-gaelic )in memory of my Gaelic grandmother, died in the 1900's of the Spanish Flu, found with her 4 day old baby in her arms. She was 38 years old.

The race of love
is just to much
as l see your face before me.
Your eyes so tender
as it holds my good byes
but words of hope
it never dies.

l'll breathe the night
as journey's fly's
so little time, the future lied.
Lets close the door
the storms too much
our windows light
no more to touch.

The empty space
holds my goodbyes
but of our love
it never dies.

chorus...
So sleep my love
as worlds go bye
for darkness came
the day you died.

As yearning float
on time untouched
in broken dreams
l cried, l cried.

l'll wait in sleep
an ache untold
for the road l took
and a heart that flowed.

chorus...
so sleep my love
as worlds go by
for darkness came
the day you died.

In sleep l'll wait
till time it calls
and tears from me
will no more fall.

Your very kind John. l learnt all about Hannah when her daughter(my Aunt) wrote a book about her life. The old photo l have shows she was a beautiful Irish Lass, who died far too young, like many others, in the epidemic of 1920's.Jackie

Such a beautiful written poem, I m exactly like my Grandfather, nobody understands him, neither do me, well he was the only one but yet I only met him for once in my entire life, he lived in england and we in Pakistan, his death was really sad for me, grandparents love is unique, I really enjoyed reading your poem, however I want you to read my poems as well and tell me how they are, actually I got confused with the name Hannah, if you read my poem, best friend you ll know why
