A Single Day

If I had just a single day to live, The value of my world would realign. Instead of what I'd gain, what could I give To raise the worth of what I leave behind? I'd mend the bridge instead of grind the axe. I'd do the things, in fear, I never tried. I wouldn't gather trophies, wealth, or plaques But rather, all my loved ones to my side. I wouldn't focus idly on the past Or other lesser worths that melt away. So ask yourself, if this day was your last Would you remain the same as yesterday? We have Today. This single day in store. Let's live it like we won't be given more. Jun 2, 2023 For the Sonnet Poetry Contest Sponsored by Sotto Poet
