A Simple Choice

A simple choice presents itself Play it safe or take a chance I sit and stew and analyze As if my choice is do-or-die I sift and sort and sort and sift Hamstrung by habitual thrift Day and night I rack my brain Methinks I might just go insane Do I keep the only job I've ever known Or venture out of my comfort zone Then suddenly it comes to me I've played it safe all my life Why not take a risk Go all in And if I fail Is that a sin... One thing only troubles me I just turned eighty-three

I love the ending! I am almost never surprised. This was an exception.

Surprises are needed once in a while in life, I think. Especially the good ones! :)

Ha, ha! I'm already too old at 70. Sometimes it depends on what the Good Lord sends you... ~ Disabled and Discouraged, gw

Love the punch line at the end Gershon, but age is a number, it is how we will think, talk and dress. Can't understand woman who are 83 plus and dress up as lamb. Blessings, and hugs, Jennifer.

Well, age also means something when it brings on physical disabilities. Believe me, I know... So age 83 to me looks really old now; i.e., it means a lot more pain. ~ Grinning and Grimacing, Gershon

Dear Gershon, I am caught up in your endearing consideration... the "should I stay or should I go" scenario.. I say go for it! Don't let a little thing like being eighty-three hold you back! ;) You pen gently amuses me. my dear friend. Warmest wishes.. ~Susan

Well, I'm only 70 now, Susan, but my body is going on 170, so for me '83' looks the Mt. Everest. Glad that I can still amuse you, at any rate. Joy and Jubilation, Gershon
