A Sigh of Relief

A sigh of relief,
I can feel the warmth of the whiskey as
It burns its way down my gullet
much like the path of volcanic lava searching out the sea,
Causing an inferno deep within my gut

My mind is racing from one thought to the next
Momentarily pausing on each event of the day
until the dull ache within my tired feet
takes the focus of my attention,
Grateful for the bar stool rail to rest them upon.

Family, housework, job, pets….
Spouse, kids, boss
The list continues on.
A Mother’s work is never done.
one small moment to myself
A sigh of relief
