A Righteous Demand

The righteous ones claim justice must be served,
but what exactly do they mean by that;
a conflict in our thoughts that I’ve observed
requires us all to be a diplomat.

While justice from a legal point of view
means what is legislated into law,
but from a moral view we can construe
that social justice overcomes the flaw.

So what are we to make of these demands
for justice by the people in the streets
while holding signs and echoing their stands
as Congress rather gutless keeps their seats.

Perhaps we need to reconcile the rift
between the moral and the legal shift.

Deep words written by a wonderful poem, I really appreciate your thinking, you see the way to change is not only to say but firatly to act upon and then show others that how it is suppose to be done, if we want to change the world, we firstly must change ourselves and for a change to occur, everyone has to change their thinking, everyone from a small begger, to a shopkeeper, to even the president and only then a positive change shall come, many congratulations on your wonderful win

Thank you, Faraz, I appreciate you sharing your thoughts. While I agree with what you say, I fear that not everyone is willing to change. Happy holidays my friend. John

Shades of "The Andersonville Trial," methinks: The eternal question -- Can we bypass justice in our courts out of obeisance to a higher and/or moral authority? Well-penned! Congrats on your win in the contest. Season's best, Gershon

Amen to the "gutless" Congress that fails to respond when protesters demand justice. It is social justice to hold them accountable for their actions, John. Congratulations on a great second-place win in a contest with very strong competition! Best wishes for the holidays, Carolyn

We are in control, the people. Yet, we are out of control. It is very confusing to me. "The righteous ones claim justice must be served" Meaning: Order and honesty. There are few that hold this title. Many wonderful blessings to you my dear friend. ~ Brandy
