A Right Carry On

A lot can change in 10 years, Especially in the reliability of your plumbing, When it comes to flushing out your system, In preparation for a Colonoscopy. My first while a bit of a mission, The pipes were soon running clear, To the satisfaction of both doctor and colour chart As instructions followed to the letter, Liquid intake measured to the last millilitre, All introduced to the pipes at the specified times, Result, smiles all round, The Doctor not late for golf, The nurse not needing to check the colour first hand, And the patient not suffering too much, for want of, First coffee of the day. Fast forward 10 years, Pipes getting a bit rusty, Flushing more of a chore, Instructions still followed to letter, But on arrival, Doctors and Nurses faces sympathetic, As more flushing required, Colonoscopy on hold til colour of outflow, Matching that on chart, Now it was Drink, Walk, Go, but don't flush, Ring the bell, Wait for the nurse, Repeat until colour match found. After 4 repeat performances, Success, A matching colour found, With five minutes to spare. My first coffee of the day now in sight, I say goodbye to those who, shared my plight, Of drinking, Walking, Going but not flushing, Ringing the bell, And waiting for the nurse. As I await my biopsy results, I can't help but smile, As I think about all the laughter, And corny jokes that kept flowing, Between flushes, But then I guess you needed to be there, Or have watched the Carry on Doctor Movies.
