A Reckoning

He reminded me of a movie about aliens from outer space. He had no interest in an annual friendly visit for just a day. He wasn't anything like a tornado or twister having its say.
He didn't come in early spring and last until the end of May.
He was programed to take no prisons, and his name was Ray.
He came with authority, announcing his plans for a while to stay.

He made no apologies about his intention of creating mass disarray. He was determined to create confusion and wreck havoc before going away.
The night before was calm until way past midnight, but hell's gate opened by early morn. Hearts melted, and it felt like every vein in our bodies was being ripped apart and torn. We were brave-hearted and tough, always rebuilding after being tested, wearied, and worn. Sure, we were stubborn and stiff-necked, arrogant and proud, but we were beginning to mourn.

We all cringed with panic when he loudly shouted, "No one, I say no one, will ride out this storm!". He was very unpredictable with no clear path except destruction; and in him, there was no norm. He came like a hurricane that builds and moves slowly across the sea, and we had been warned. Warned time and time again I tell you, as surely as we have been born; as sure as the rising sun.

Like Noah's generation, we refused to change and turn to God; and now, we had no where to run. I was reminded of a line in a movie, "Make no mistake; it's not revenge he's after. It's a reckoning"*. Our reckoning** day had come with a vengeance, and without God's mercies, we were clearly done. We were knocked from our secure saddles, rocked to the core of our being, shocked and stunned.

Yes, after our hurricane, after Ray, there would be a tomorrow, but one unlike any that we had ever known. Pride had waxed our ears, and for too long we refused to listen. We drifted from the path we were shown. Our light had dimmed, and our hearts had turned to stone; but now, our eyes looked toward God's throne, appealing for His Mercy.
