A Raksha Bandhan Lay
A Raksha Bandhan Lay
Oh! Once again autumn marked its onset
The flowers now shed and leaves now torn
But the fragrance of love and charm now set
As once again dear sister you made those tender days touched, and once again
yours beguiling woo now born.
Born and united with the eve of Raksha Bandhan,
Which to me is sacred, trusted and dearer than no other dhan.
Your childish caprice, your sweet smile
Your tender tresses, your cute caress
Like frolic moments, loving but volatile,
Like angels lay’s and fairies confesses.
Oh! Deign princess this is just a lay,
For the moonlit glorious Fay.
This lives in the woodland of my dreams
And like amber and amethyst burns and gleams.
The enchanting moments we spent together
Very delicate and tender like pinion’s feather
Lo! Ere they falter and whither,
Save! Ere they dismantle hither-thither.
Moments though subtle and soft,
Sheltered in my heart atop and aloft.
You are the lambent luminescence
Which aglints my heart and evokes my essence
In the time of agony, you stand behind me as patience and perseverance.
You are the sweet comrade of mine,
You never let the fire within me decline.
I vow, I will always stand besides you
Amidst the scorching heat, I will outshine you with gentle dew
I would be your liege, yours loyal
For my dear sister - regal and royal.
Amidst hopeless hearth
I will seek for you mirth.
The bond of love, which you send me as a token
Would be bonded on my wrist, so stiffly which couldn’t be broken
Oh! Dear sister, my sweet comrade
As long as my heart pervades, like a merry nightingale in my heart you will
serenade
