A Quiet Vigil
A crescent moon;
Light descents loom
With hesitant moments in few,
Laying a varnish in this glossing truth.
A smile appearing to soothe
The overcast night clearly coating through
Let it be my eyes to pair in tune,
Aligned in time, grace and I happened to view
Glimpses gleaming, the shine that blew
With glimmers glowing past in lieu
Of simmered clouds, cast in due;
What is owed to the night,
And to you.
Beyond myself and my senses, soon
Again, it’s further where thoughts construe;
If there’s a chance for help coming to,
In prayer, I beg for lended ears discerning true,
Please, let their affairs improve.
In this night, where temperatures droop
Quiet measures obtain drastic swoops.
Private eyes, without the privileged clue
That I find within tonight’s crescent moon,
Estrange their maybes and mights in blues,
Taking away of what can be from the good.
There’s a climate of moods;
A spouse controlling a spouse,
And now, in our present, thoughts introduce.
The slightest sway to a power found
A better half expects reactions never new.
So here they call one a climate denier
Because now this climate changed;
A tempered substitute.
In their science they spout a liar,
As the other denies and doubt becomes fire.
One chokes on silence as if smoke,
And if it rises, so does flame
Ignition found rather than listening to what they say.
One sees a world changing, refusing the other's words as they can't see it as theirs
Believing sovereignty in dominance
An experiment unable to change its own control.
The other says change waits at every corner,
With or without defiance of arbitrary rules.
Surprising a crown that never wore jewels.
Surpassing love with a frown,
Raising a fist to their spouse
How is love treated
When it’s love it's without?
I sit beyond midnight,
In a world dressed with a crescent moon
Finding a smile that shines,
Not bright enough to find the recluse
Who mistreats a wife
Who grants love in abuse
With what may spite what I find true
I’ll put it all aside
If there’s even a chance
At a guiding light
Finding you.
Grant you protection
Grant you peace
Tonight the moon smiled,
I just wish it weren’t only for me.
A blessing in the skies,
Dressed in disguise
A crescent moon
Mirroring the sun
That every tomorrow hides.
Please don’t let this person’s spouse,
A friend I barely knew,
Become battered and beaten
Because of advice
Or any reason.
Let them find a similar reflection
Of the smile I find
Between the clouds
That attempt to hide
Tonight’s crescent moon
