A Quiet Christmas Eve

I shall enjoy the quiet of this Christmas Eve Reminiscing about Christmases past, Thinking about a lost love that will cleave The heart, but memories do last and last. Remembering those most treasured moments I shall enjoy the quiet of this Christmas Eve For tomorrow the danger of a war foments And some young soldiers will take their leave. Listening to soft carol sounds, I shall grieve While sipping a hot toddy of brandy and cider I shall enjoy the quiet of this Christmas Eve But I’ll be wishing I was sitting here beside her. It’s not likely I’ll be interrupted in my solace Friends and family will have taken their leave Preparations for Christmas were quite aweless I shall enjoy the quiet of this Christmas Eve.

I love company, but there is nothing as marvelous as when they all return home, and it is just the four of us - Joe, me and two dogs. "I shall enjoy the quiet of this Christmas Eve." (The cat lives outside).

It is nice, isn't it? I enjoyed being by myself over Christmas. Oh, I went to dinner with a friends and had Christmas dinner with my niece, but I love the quiet of my home.

I find it quite an emotional time Milton looking back at Christmases past and the times spent with loved ones no longer here. Hope you enjoy the festivities. Tom
