A Push To Freedom

The dark night
                      harbored their evil intents,
                         and they struck swiftly,
like a hawk that robbed the hen of its chicks.
Their weapon of courage they lifted,
                       to cow the intrepid soul.

                          That night was your turn,
You, that is close to my heart.
                       You, my mettlesome hero,
became a pusillanimous man to save your head.

Then they bundled you into your car,
and drove you to the unknown.
It was like a dream to you,
but you knew the end wasn't near.

I was oblivion of your plight.
I didn't know you were having a ride,
with the marauding beasts at night.
But with just one little push,
                          they ended that scary ride

                           That little push then,
                           threw you to freedom,
                           freedom to live,
                           the life that is yours.
                           Freedom to feel,
                           the love that we share.
                           Freedom to live again!
                           Freedom to feel again!
                           Freedom to breathe
                           another breath of life.

24th August, '12

Just expressing what I felt after I heard the news about my husband's encounter with armed robbers right in front of the house. His car was snatched from him and he was driven far away from the house. He was later pushed out of the car while the thieves drove away. God saved his life and the car was later recovered.

wow, what a story. I really was enjoying your poem but the story at the bottom let me understand it completely. As I read the last stanza, I was thinking that being with the marauding beasts WAS the freedom he had been enjoying, so to make it more clear, you could somehow insert a part into the poem's ending letting us know they actually pushed him out of the car. Maybe you could say: BUt with that one little push they ended your ride and threw you to freedom, etc etc.
