Deliver me, O Lord, deliver me. Wolves and wild animals surround me. Doubts gnaw into my sordid soul, anxiety, anger, and depression rule my ego. How can I ever come to you, O Lord? Why have you forsaken me? I thirst for knowledge and love but roam in sultry roads and lustful bars. An act of hopelessness, I know, for I am weak and weary, a wanton fool.

A very honest and sincere poem , from the perspective of one that longs to find the light but often find themselves in places where they are fed with nothing but guilt! How profound and soulfully moving! Powerful and raw! Pleasure reading you today dear victor! Sending you light always! Brilliant poem

This is a heart wrenching lamentation. I know one thing. God will never forsake you. Reading this, I am reminded of the prayer of the Pharisee and the tax collector in St. Luke's gospel. Dear friend, He will reward you for your honesty and humility.

Dearest Victor, this is such a powerful and heartfelt poem—a raw expression of struggle and yearning for redemption. The imagery of wolves and wild animals is incredibly evocative, symbolizing those inner battles that feel almost impossible to tame. Your vulnerability shines through with every line, reaching out in desperation yet holding onto hope. That honest plea for deliverance carries so much weight, and it's truly moving. A fave ...Love and Hugs

A little introspection is a good thing, but don't be too hard on yourself. Your poetry seems to show compassion. One must have compassion for oneself. You write with a magic pen.

I have seen people lost, wandering souls who became addicted to what they thought would alleviate their pain, but spiral deeper and deeper into the realm of 'wolves and wild animals' and circling vultures may I add, true enemies of their existence. Sad poem Victor, but, I see a ray of hope for his deliverance as he lifted his eyes and desperate prayer to God, may he find peace and healing. This was written very well and reminds me to pray for those in darkness and depression.

You know, as poets, maybe we should state whether a write is personal because many assume all are when, in fact, only some are. That's a perspective that completely alters the readers chosen comments. Your imagination just took off from vibes the picture gave you, right? Both raw and beautiful lines flow in this poem. CayCay

Dear Victor, I love that it is a raw, honest cry from the wilderness-wolves circling, doubts gnawing, yet still you thirst for something higher. Your words echo the ancient psalms, where even in despair, the soul reaches out, hoping for deliverance. I see yours and my struggle and, oh, the longing, and I believe that in the asking-in the aching-there’s already a spark of hope. Spring Blessings, My Dear Friend, Daniel

Hanging out in the bars probably isn't in this bloke's best interest if he wants his prayers to be heard. Never ceases to amaze me how many seem bent on self destruction
